The oil that made me a believer and the journey to get there.

I wanted to share with you guys my story, and how I became the oil obsessed woman I am today. I think it’s important to share with you how I got here. Many people are probably at a similar place in life that I was in when I first found oils. So, if my story helps to inspire someone, even if it’s just one person, then it’s a story worth telling.
I grew up in a not so small town in Northwest Arkansas. I have a pretty normal family and had a fairly normal childhood. I, like many teenagers disliked school, A LOT! I was more interested in my high school boyfriend, then I was in school. Despite that, I graduated but only barley. The summer after graduation I realized I was going nowhere fast, and decided to take a huge step and join the Army.

It’s been roughly seven years since I signed those papers that changed my life for the better. I served for four years. Though some of those years were difficult, I found strength that I never knew was possible. I also found my now husband. It was actually through my husband that I found essential oils. We had just started dating, and took a weekend to visit his hometown so I could meet his friends and family. I had been suffering from migraine headaches, and syncope seizures. Later, and after many different test and an MRI I would find out that it was caused by a few herniated discs in my back. But during that visit with some of his close friends, I was starting to get a headache, and was unaware of the cause. A very kind woman suggested I try peppermint oil, and gave me one of her samples. And just like that, a seed was planted. On November 22, 2013 I married my husband, and then on July 4th, 2014 I finished my contract with the military and moved to my husbands hometown in Upstate New York.

After getting out of the Army, I still had my back/head problems. Pain pills weren’t cutting it any longer. I’d take some, it would help for a bit, then the pain would come back. I was really needing a lifestyle change, because I just couldn’t live my life in pain any longer. So, little by little I gave up all the things that were bad for me. I’m ashamed to say, but during my time in the military I was a smoker. Smoking was the first thing I gave up. I eventually found yoga, which was a giant life changer for me. I started incorporating yoga into my daily life, and my back pain started subsiding. However my headaches were still crippling me. I was a major junk food junkie and soda addict. So my diet was the next change on the list. I drank a ton of water, and ate fairly healthy. But still my head was giving me hell. Eventually, my memory kicked in and I went online and ordered some peppermint oil. What a game changer that was. I was the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been. It’s amazing how happy you are when you aren’t living your life in pain anymore. Not to be confusing, but I want to take a step back to my military days. My husband and I suffered multiple miscarriages, two of which caused me to need emergency surgery. It was a very low point in my life. I had back and head pain, then emotional pain from all the heartache and loss. So, it was such a huge deal to me that I was finally happy again. That the peppermint oil helped with my headaches, that yoga saved me from my backaches. It was truly a blessing. Speaking of blessing, on September 18th, 2015 my husband and I found out we were pregnant again. Of course we were scared and anxious, but finally things worked out in our favor and we welcomed our beautiful daughter into this world on May 28th, 2016. Life was and is amazing, and I can’t believe that she is almost a year old.

So, because of Luna I started doing major research on products to put on her body. It’s astounding to me that so many baby products are full of nasty chemicals. (check out my other blog for more detail about that) I started using young living for EVERYTHING and haven’t looked back. I’m obsessed, and for good reason! I can’t imagine my life without these wonderful products. I’ve felt a calling to share my personal oily journey with the world. Like I said before, if this information only reaches just one person, it’s worth it for me.

Thank you for reading my journey to the place i’m at now. I hope it’s helped you get to know and understand me better. As always, if you ever have any questions on oils, or how to get started with young living, i’m just an email away! Your journey is so important to me! Happy Oiling!!!
